New Beginnings...With the Lord

  Praise the Lord!

Here we are with iCatholic, the news bulletin of our parish. I am glad to introduce this new initiative of the parish, which would help in informing and improving our faith life and its practice. I believe that this new venture will certainly enhance to improve in decimating the news, events and other aspects of our parish life to all our parishioners and well-wishers. I thank all the parishioners and in a very special way those helped in making this iCatholic possible by giving us a short description of some of the significant activities which take place on  a regular basis in our parish, through Wards and Associations.

Our Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHMC) is a vibrant and active Jesuit parish in the Archdiocese of Bangalore. Our parishioners come from different parts of India. It’s absolutely incredible to see how we work together to make space for everyone in our parish, organizing various events and other creative programs. The Mission Sunday, Christmas Get together, Outreach programs, lively liturgies, etc. are the best witnesses to see how each one is doing one’s best to make  others  feel at home in our parish. This way our parish community is really a community of fellowship (Koinonia)

As a parish we can do much to learn more about our faith and our scriptures. The passionate zeal for our Lord Jesus Christ will make us true witnesses to what we profess and live.

The parish community is blessed with a number of religious communities of both men and women: Jesuits (Mount St Joseph), Trinitarians (Trinity Ashram), Salesians (Don Bosco Renewal Centre), Alverna Sisters (Alverna Bhavan), Holy Spirit Sisters (Convernt of the Holy Spirit), Salesian Sisters (Nirmal Jyothi), FSI Sisters (Jyothi Bhavan) and Holy Mary Convent. The commitment of these religious communities in making our liturgies vibrant and devotional, as well as participation in the Ward meetings active is certainly admirable.

A parish community will thrive when all involve themselves in making or creating a space for everyone, in developing a sense of “WE” feeling. Jesus, since the beginning of his teaching, preaching and healing ministry, he built up a band of community of apostles, disciples and friends. They were very important partners in carrying out his ministry. We cannot think of Jesus’ ministry without this community of varied persons.

My sincere wish and humble prayer is that we involve ourselves more and more in the life of our parish and make our faith more alive and active given the present political and economic scenario.

May Mary, the Immaculate Heart to whom this parish is dedicated to, help us to say YES to life and respond wholeheartedly to all the challenges of life.

I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness
that I can show to any human being,
let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
